Baby Shower Planning: Preparing A Guest List
A baby shower is an enjoyable moments for any parent-to-be. It’s absolutely wonderful knowing that a blessing is coming your way and that you’ll be able to celebrate it with the people you care for, including your family and friends. Baby showers are usually intimate events, filled with lots of merrymaking, fun activities, gifts and advice about parenthood.
Planning a baby shower isn’t very difficult, but just like any celebration, it involves a lot of preparation. One of the first details that must be taken care of is the baby shower guest list. Planners usually see this as one of the crucial parts of baby shower planning. A lot of party details depend on the guest list, including the invitations, the food, the games and sometimes even the party theme.
Preparing a baby shower guest list might not be very easy for some people. Here are several useful pointers to remember when taking care of this important party aspect.
- Baby showers can have from six to 25 guests. Before starting the baby shower guest list, decide whether you’re going to have a very small gathering or a large one. You should also decide on a particular number of guests, so you’ll have an easier time narrowing down the list.
- Coordinate with the mom-to-be regarding the baby shower. She’ll be able to tell you the names, contact numbers and addresses of people she’d like to include in the list. If the party’s a surprise, ask the dad-to-be instead. (Tips on how to plan a surprise party)
- Usually, baby showers are women only events, but sometimes, men, especially the dad-to-be, are also invited. Decide whether your party will be strictly for women, or will include male guests as well.
Close family members are always invited to baby showers. Never leave out the mommy’s mother, her mother-in-law, her grandmother, and her sisters. When you’ve already listed these down, ask the mom-to-be if she has cousins, aunts and grand-aunts she’d like to invite.- You don’t have to include all the mom-to-be’s friends, just those whom she’s close to and who played a significant part in her life. The same goes for colleagues.
- Children are usually not included in baby shower guest list, unless they are important to the parents-to-be, such as their young sisters or brothers.

Is there any reason why baby shower guest lists should be short (25 guests)? Or is that just the ideal one for a typical baby shower. Because i have many friends as well as family members and I would really want to invite them as well.
