Having a baby is one of the most exciting and wonderful things that can happen to any couple. That’s why when you heard about your best friend’s pregnancy, you decided to congratulate her in a very special way—by throwing a baby shower for her! You’ve got lots of time to plan the party details, including the decorations, the invitations, the food and the party venue.

Before you take care of these baby shower concerns, stop. There’s one important thing you’re forgetting: the theme you’ll be using for the party. Every party needs to have a theme, and when it comes to baby shower this is a very crucial matter you need to take care of. A theme affects everything about the party. It’s what the planner uses to unify the different elements of the event, starting from the color motifs of the invitations, up to the thank you cards the guests would be receiving. The baby shower theme can also decide the success or failure of your event, since it plays a large role in terms of entertaining the mom-to-be and the guests.

There are numerous baby shower themes available today, ranging from cutesy and adorable ones to those which have serious or playful motifs. Some baby shower themes focus on color schemes, such as pink and blue, while others are more directed towards actual baby items, such as diaper, baby books, or stuffed animal themes. These themes can be very traditional, while some are exciting and unique. There are also baby shower themes based on season or holidays, including Christmas baby shower or Easter baby shower themes. Other popular themes include cartoon theme, couples theme (for co-ed baby showers) and nursery rhyme theme.

It’s not easy to choose a baby shower theme, but if you’re going to do so, there are several important factors you need to consider, including the mom-to-be’s preference, the budget for the party, and the guests you’ll be inviting.

What do you recommend as a theme for a third baby shower? I already had cartoony and jolly showers before this, but I want a different one with a different feel. Something more casual and formal. is that possible?

Sansan123, that is feasible. I would advise against making it too formal, though. After all the purpose of a baby shower is to celebrate the arrival of your baby with your closest friends!

Baby showers are usually very laid back events, sansan. It is actually one of the few parties where you can get away with pizza and softdrinks. So make it as warm and comfy as possible.
