Baby Shower Party

A baby shower is often considered one of the most memorable events in a parent’s life. By holding this party, they get to spend time with their close friends and family members, while eating, playing fun games, and receiving gifts for their baby. It’s a very special celebration for any mom-to-be.

If someone close to you is pregnant, you’re probably eager to throw a baby shower party for her and her little angel. With the help of the people close to her, you start planning the party, and begin to think about the decorations, the invitations and the food you’ll serve. Of course, before you take care of anything else, you need to decide on one party detail: the theme of the party! You want something that’s fun and unique, aside from the usual cartoon or diaper baby showers theme you always see. Why not have a book baby shower? It’s cute, enjoyable and very exciting.

A book baby shower theme is a wonderful idea for parents who want to start a library for their little one. Aside from the usual toys and baby items, they also receive different books for their baby. It’s a fun baby shower idea many parents-to-be and party planners are opting for today.

It’s not difficult to plan a book baby shower. Here are several suggestions you can use to make the most out of this theme.

Cute Book Invites: Baby Book Invitations

A Simple book party invitation

You can make creative invitations for your book baby shower. One cute idea you can use is to make mini-booklet invites. Get several pieces of paper fold them equally, and then sew the middle part so it opens up like a book. Then, using colored pens, write in the party details on the pages. Use words and sentences you often see in children’s books. For example, the opening line for the invitation could read “Once upon a time, there was a couple who prayed for a little angel to come their way… and they got their wish!”

Aside from the usual party details, don’t forget to mention that the guests need to bring a baby book for the baby. It can be of any title, as long as it has content apt for children.

A Fairytale-Like Venue: Baby Book Decorations

Snow White

Aside from the usual streamers, balloons and confetti, find cutouts and posters of popular fairytale and children’s story characters, such as Snow White, the Gingerbread Man, Hansel and Gretel and the Three Little Pigs. If you have old and worn out children’s books with front covers that are still intact, you can mount them on the walls as well. For the tables, find tablecloths and utensils with cute baby book designs on them. (Learn how to make a gingerbread house)

Fairytale Snack Delights: Baby Book Party Food

Gingerbread man

You can serve the usual treats and snacks, but to make the banquet more special, it’s nice if you serve food that reminds guest of their favorite children’s stories. For example, you can have a gingerbread house similar to the one Hansel and Gretel found in the forest. Cute gingerbread men are also delightful treats guests would enjoy. Fresh apples slices can remind everyone of Snow White and her evil stepmother.

Entertaining Storybook Activities: Baby Book Party Games

Have a “Three Little Bears” eating contest! Ask for three volunteers from the guests, and let them have a “porridge” (any kind of soup) eating contest, with one twist—they all have to wear baby bibs! Whoever finishes the porridge fastest gets a special prize.

You can also go down memory lane and have a discussion about your favorite books when you were little. Share why you like the book, and what memories you have with it.

Another fun activity is to watch a movie that’s derived from a children’s book, such as the Snow White or Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.

Storybook Giveaways: Baby Book Party Favors

You can’t let the guests leave without party favors! A figurine of a baby sleeping on top of a book would be a great choice. If you want, you can also give out actual baby books. Small, pocket-size versions would be nice.

Another fun idea is to create a baby shower scrapbook. Get photos of the party and make several copies of a photo album scrapbook, complete with captions. Give them out to the guests after the party. (Tips on how to make a scrapbook)

A book baby shower theme is a simple, but enjoyable idea. Parents, as well as the guests would surely appreciate this fun party for the little one. Try out these suggestions, so your book theme will be successful!

So this baby shower party will revolve all around books? Like fairy tale books and children's books? Do you also have any idea for a book-themed activity?

My most favorite fairy tale book is Cinderella. I also love the Disney cartoon! I'm gonna have a Cinderella-themed baby shower for my best friend. I'll use some of your suggestions to make the party really magical.
