Having a baby is probably the most wonderful thing that can happen to any couple, which is why people close to them plan a baby shower for the parents. Usually, this party is thrown for the mom-to-be only, with only her closest female friends and relatives invited to the celebration. Men don’t usually attend baby showers, since they find these events cheesy and too girlish.

Even so, there are some daddies-to-be who think of baby showers as special events they shouldn’t miss. That’s why instead of the usual baby shower the host or the planner holds a couples baby shower. It’s just like a typical baby shower, except the people who attend are either married couples or those in serious relationships.

If you want to have a couples baby shower, here are several helpful tips you can use.

Male-Female Invitations: Couples Baby Shower Invites

Cowboy Invitation

Since you’ll be inviting men to the celebration, you need to get invitations that aren’t too cutesy or babyish. If you want, you can get ready-made shower invitations with elegant-looking designs them. Western and cowboy baby shower invitations are also practical; they let the men know they’re welcomed to the party.

If you have enough creativity and patience, you can make your own couples invitations. All you’ll need is construction paper and coloring material. One simple idea is to create an invite with a silhouette of a man and woman as the front fold with the details printed on the inside.

Decorating For Guys and Gals: Couples Baby Shower Decorations

Mickey and Minnie Kiss

Frilly decorations or anything that’s too childish might not be a good idea for your baby shower decorations. Just stick to the usual confetti, streamers and banners. Stay away from anything with lace and don’t use items such as stuffed toys as decorations.

If you want to liven up your place, here’s a simple idea: hang up posters of popular couples around your walls. It can be cartoon characters, such as Mickey and Minnie Mouse or Spiderman and Mary Jane, or popular celebrities, such as Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie.

Treats For Two: Couples Baby Shower Food

Typical baby showers usually have appetizers and sandwiches, but since you’ll be inviting men, you need to serve food items that are delicious and more filling. Remember, guys have big appetites. Aside from the usual finger foods and salads for the moms, you also serve food such as casseroles and enchiladas. Barbecued meat, such as burger patties, chicken and, baby back ribs are also yummy choices.

As for the drinks, you can serve fruit juices and soda, but don’t forget the alcoholic beverages for the men. Beer, whiskey or wine would be appropriate.

Lastly, don’t forget dessert! Men and women alike love sweet treats. Cake, cookies or muffins are delicious desserts you can serve.

 Baby Back Ribs
 Red Wine
 Delicious Muffins

Co-Ed Entertainment: Couples Party Games

It’ll be more fun if you can have party games during the baby shower, so the guests won’t become bored. Relay games and group guessing games are fun, especially when you group the guests into all-male and all-female teams. Charades and Baby Pictionary are also fun options (Learn how to play pictionary). Individual contests are also exciting, such as who can drink beer (or other carbonated drink) faster, straight from a baby bottle.

Gifts For Him And Her: Couples Party Favors

Scented Candle

Don’t forget to give precious keepsakes to your guests before they leave! The party favors you should get should either be something they will both appreciate, such as gift certificates or you can also get separate items for the men and women. For the women, scented candles and bath soaps are all right, while the men can get cigars or handkerchiefs. (Why don’t you create your own scented candles, read how to make scented candles)

It’s great to let both the parents celebrate the arrival of a new baby, which is why a couples baby shower is an enjoyable party you should have. So go ahead, and invite the other mom and dads to your shower! They will have a great time with your co-ed party theme!

Baby showers are always a fun event, especially if both couples are in. It makes the whole thing more intimate, After all, you're celebrating your baby right? Men shoudln't be afraid of baby showers. Actually, we think they're sweet if they attend one!

What's with the idea that men always like macho things? We also like cute babies, and Mickey Mouse, and teddy bears, and pink balloons, you know. All right, maybe not the pink balloons that much, but still, we can enjoy these things. Men who are deeply in love with their partners will enjoy girly stuff as much as their partners because their partners' happiness is their happiness.

I found the cutest Couples Baby Shower invites at www.PosePrints.com -- just wanted to share. You personalize caricatures of the mom-to-be (with a pregnant belly) and dad-to-be on their website, and then it's printed on nice invitations. Everyone loved them!!!
