You’ve decided to throw an enjoyable baby shower for your pregnant friend. You want her to have a good time with her other close friends and family members, and to receive gifts for her little one. Since you’re planning the shower, you need to consider numerous details, including the guest list, the food, the decorations and the program. Before all of these, you also need to decide on a fun and enjoyable theme.

It’s not necessary for a baby shower to have a party theme, but since many parents want their child’s party to be special, they settle on an adorable theme for the party. Of course, they want it to be fun, cheerful, but still be connected to a baby theme.

One very popular theme that has all of these characteristics is the Nursery Rhyme theme. Every child grew up reading and listening to these rhymes, and even in their adult years, they are still fond memories of their childhood. That’s why Nursery Rhyme themes are very popular among many baby shower planners.

At first, a Nursery Rhyme baby shower seems difficult to plan, but with these useful suggestions, preparing for this party would be very easy.

Nursery Rhyme Invitaion

Rhyming Invitations: Nursery Rhyme Invites

If you’re having a hard time finding ready-made nursery rhyme invitations, you can simply make your own. Be creative, and draw popular characters from rhymes, such as Jack and Jill, Humpty Dumpty or Little Miss Muffet. As for the party details, you can begin by writing “Once Upon A Time…”. You can also make the lines rhyme if you want.

Nursery Rhyme Colors: Party Decorations

Baa Baa Black Sheep

The colors used for a Nursery Rhyme party are the same as in other baby showers. Pastel hues, such as baby blue, pink, lavender, yellow and light green are great choices. You can also have nursery rhyme table centerpieces for your venue. For example, a black sheep figurine (Baa, Baa Blacksheep) could go on one table, while a plate and a spoon (Hey Diddle, Diddle) can be placed on another.

Snacks Inspired From Nursery Rhymes: Party Food

You can serve a wide variety of food during Nursery Rhyme baby showers, but here’s a great idea: why not serve food that is mentioned in nursery rhymes and stories? For example, you can serve Little Gingerbread Men or Bean Salad (inspired by Jack and the Beanstalk). Boiled egg halves with yummy toppings are also great choices, and you can tell your guests that it’s Humpty Dumpty. (Learn how to make gingerbread men)

Remembering Your Nursery Rhymes: Party Games

One very enjoyable game you can play is Nursery Rhyme Charades. The guests are divided into two teams. When a team’s turn comes, they have to draw a nursery rhyme written on a slip of paper from a jar. The team members have to act it out and the other members will have to guess the nursery rhyme.

If the guests feel awkward acting out the rhymes, they can just play Nursery Rhyme Pictionary. One of the team members draws the rhyme on paper instead, and the other members answer it.

Cute Childhood Giveaways: Nursery Rhyme Party Favors

Humpty Dumpty

You can get picture frames or baby items with designs inspired by nursery rhymes. Another fun idea is to give personalized nursery rhyme mugs. These can have drawings and quotes from the mom-to-be’s favorite nursery rhyme. It’s a simple, but cute giveaway your guests will cherish.

Who said kids are the only ones who enjoy nursery rhymes? With a Nursery Rhyme theme, adults will certainly enjoy these childhood memories once again. Try this theme for your baby shower, and the guests would certainly feel like they’re kids again! For more information regarding this article, read Baby Shower Ideas.

Charades type of games are always fun! We always make a variation of it whenever we hang out or have a private party with friends. You don't need to spend much and it's a good opportunity to see your friends act silly.

Great baby shower theme! There are a lot of popular nursery rhymes so there shouldn't be any problem with what decorations to do to an area. Or even what food to prepare like gingerbread and curd and whey.

I wonder what's better, a nursery rhyme theme or a Disney theme? A nursery rhyme-themed baby shower seems like a good idea, but aren\'t nursery rhymes kind of outdated today? I mean, I love nursery rhymes, but a Disney theme seems more contemporary. I love the nursery rhyme inspired snacks though. I might try that for my baby.
